Corrie Stewart

Corrie Stewart is an Alumnus with an entrepreneurial mind and has worked in several start-ups, tech companies, major projects, and government agencies throughout his career. Still, one thing always remained the same, his connection and desire to stay involved with Cape Breton University.

Corrie graduated from Cape Breton University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Corrie went on to complete an MBA at St. Mary’s University, majoring in finance, and in 2015 he graduated from Knox College in Toronto with his Master of Divinity. Since graduating from CBU, Corrie has stayed connected, serving as President of the CBU Alumni Association and as a member of the CBU Board of Governors from 2002 to 2009. Not only has Corrie generously given his time to CBU, Corrie is also a long-time monthly donor.

“I received a terrific education from Cape Breton University, and it has served me very well throughout my career,” says Corrie Stewart. “I wanted to help others gain a valuable education and a foundation to help them build successful careers as well.”

Corrie cares deeply about his community and the people who live and work in it. In his ministry, Corrie serves four rural Presbyterian congregations throughout Cape Breton, which allows him to learn what drives communities and what borders may exist.

“Cape Breton University is one of the driving forces of our Island, it truly is the Island’s university and I think we all have a role to play in supporting CBU,” says Corrie. Not only can CBU help stimulate the local economy, CBU has brought cultural and new experiences to our communities through international students. There is so much value in learning from other cultures.”

Corrie currently lives in Sydney Mines with his wife Rose and owns a successful accounting and consulting business WC Stewart Financial and Project Services.
