CBU Pipe Band Takes Home First Place

Aug 12, 2019

Cape Breton University would like to extend a huge congratulations to the CBU Pipe Band who took home the Grade Five North American Championship at the Glengarry Highland Games in Ontario.

Over the summer, the CBU compliment have placed in every event they competed in, including first place in March Medley at the Pugwash Highland Games, first place in the Medley at the Antigonish Highland Games and first place in Medley at the Fredericton Highland Games.

The CBU Pipe band  is a competition and performance band under the umbrella of the Island Pipes and Drums Association, compiled of performers 11 years old and over. The band developed out of a teaching program initiated in 2014 aimed at teaching Nova Scotian youth for free, with sponsorship from the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo. The Association now features a performing band of more than 20 members, a developmental band and registration of more than 40 youth and adult individuals in the program.

Congratulations on your hard work from all your friends at Cape Breton University.
